Throwing down the hammer
Airman 1st Class Lena Bleckley and Staff Sgt. Jordan Hatch secure a GBU-38 to an F-16 here Aug. 5. The Airmen are assigned to the 46th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., and deployed here to participate in the Air Force's air-to-ground Weapons System Evaluation Program known as Combat Hammer. Airmen and aircraft from 10 Air Combat Command units dropped over $1.2 million-worth of munitions on the Utah Test and Training Range Aug. 4-22. With support from the 388th Range Squadron, Airmen in Eglin AFB's 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron, 53rd Wing, will collect and analyze data on how these precision weapons performed and their suitability for use in War on Terror deployments.
