HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – 388th Fighter Wing maintainers, who keep the most advanced aircraft in the world at peak performance, now have a facility to keep the most complex and intricate system in the world – the human body and mind – at peak performance.
Recently, the 388th Maintenance Group, in an effort led by the 388th Logistics Support Squadron, opened the Maintenance Performance Center, a “one-stop-shop” for Air Force maintainers to do some work on themselves.
“We wanted to create a place for our maintainers where they could take some time to take care of themselves, with the goal of improving overall unit readiness,” said Maj. Ryan Dyson, 388th Logistics Support Squadron commander.
The center - which houses a gym, a Lumena Mind Gym, on-site chaplain, and Operational Support Team members – is located on Canberra Drive, steps away from the flightline and dining facility, giving Airmen a space located conveniently for their busy schedules.
The gym holds a wide variety of equipment from cardio to free-weights as well as recovery equipment. The Mind Gym is a self-guided mental fitness tool that enable Airmen to increase focus, manage stress and build resilience.
The Operational Support Team is made up of mental and physical fitness professionals who embed with a unit to coach and guide Airmen to increase performance and operational readiness. The goal is to improve overall Airman availability by reducing stressors and injuries.
