HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The 388th Operations Group welcomed a new commander during a ceremony here June 23, as Col. Christopher Hubbard assumed command of the group.
Hubbard joins the 388th Fighter Wing after serving as the senior military advisor for the director of the Operational Test and Evaluation Air Warfare Programs Division at the Pentagon. He is a command pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours in the F-16 and F-35.
An Air Force Academy graduate, Hubbard earned his commission in 2002 and has served in various assignments around the world, including squadron command at Luke Air Force Base Arizona, where he led the first three-nation F-35 squadron, training pilots from Italy, Norway and the United States.
As Operations Group commander, he will be responsible for leading three fighter squadrons and an operations support squadron, responsible for deploying and operating the F-35 around the world in support of combatant commanders.
Utah Test and Training Range
The Utah Test and Training Range also welcomed a new commander during a ceremony on June 26, as Col. Gregory Hunger assumed command.
Hunger joins the 388th Fighter Wing after serving as the deputy director of the Joint Staff Innovation Group at the Pentagon. He is a command pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours in the F-15, F-16, F-18 and F-35.
Earning his commission in 2002 through the Reserve Officer Training corps after graduating from the University of Maryland, Hunger has served in a variety of assignments around the world, including joint assignments with the Navy and Marine Corps and as an F-35 squadron commander and deputy group commander.
As Utah Test and Training Range commander, Hunger will lead a diverse team of military, civilian and contractors. Range operations provides operational test and evaluation for weapons requiring a large safety footprint. The UTTR is also used for air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions training by DoD aircrews.
