HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – The 2022 air show schedule for the Air Force’s F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team has been officially released.
Announced earlier this week during the International Council of Airshows annual convention, the Utah-based team is scheduled to display the capabilities of the F-35A at approximately 21 performances starting in February 2022 and running through early November. International air shows and trade shows may be announced throughout the season as they are added and approved by Air Combat Command.
Major Kristin "BEO" Wolfe will continue to lead the team as the demonstration pilot and commander, with the team continuing to practice locally over Hill Air Force Base during the air show "off-season”. This will be the final year that Wolfe leads the team, highlighting the F-35A at air shows across the country.
The F-35A Demonstration Team is composed of approximately 15 active duty maintenance and support Airmen assigned to 388th Fighter Wing and selected through an application process for their excellence in their respective jobs. Team members serve roughly two-to-three years on the team before returning to operational air force units.
The approximately 18-minute long profile will highlight some of the F-35A’s capabilities, to include it’s advanced flight controls, agility, and high-g maneuverability. The ground crew will also showcase the professionalism and precision of America’s Airmen through a choreographed launch routine, as well as provide opportunities for people around the world to meet and interact with members of the team and learn about the United States Air Force.
The F-35A, America’s newest fifth-generation fighter, provides game-changing stealth, interoperability and lethality. It can penetrate dangerous airspace and defeat evolving threats both in the air and on the ground.
