4th FS, 421st FGS welcome new commanders

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Lt. Col. Greg Farrell took command of the 4th Fighter Squadron during a change of command ceremony at Hill Air Force Base, today. Farrell previously served as the director of operations for the 421st Fighter Squadron.

The FS also bid farewell to Lt. Col. Joshua Arki, who has served as the squadron commander since 2019. Arki is headed to Tufts University, Medford, Mass., for senior developmental education. 

The 4th FS, the “Fighting Fuujins,” is one of three fighter squadrons that make up the 388th Operations Group, the other two squadrons are the 34th FS, the “Rude Rams,” and the 421st FS, the “Black Widows.”

The week prior, Maj. Justin Shetter took command of the 421st Fighter Generation Squadron from Maj. Steven Ortner. Shetter previously served as the Maintenance Operations Officer for the 57th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Nellis AFB, Nev. The 421st FGS provides on-aircraft and back-shop maintenance for the F-35.
