To help alleviate the academic stress being experienced by DoD-affiliated personnel and their families due to COVID-19 disruptions, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP) has temporarily expanded eligibility for the for U.S. Military Families program.

The program provides on-demand academic support 24/7 online in more than 100 subjects for grades kindergarten through college students.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has unexpectedly impacted many DoD civilian personnel who are now juggling telework and homeschool for their children, this expansion will provide support to these families and students during these challenging times,” said Tracie Atkins, School Liaison at Hill AFB Child & Youth Education Services.

With the temporary program expansion, online tutoring and homework help via is now available at no cost to any adult or child in a DoD civilian or Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve or Wounded Warrior military family who is trying to continue learning while managing unexpected changes to their routines.

This includes:

   •  service members, civilian personnel, spouses and college-age children who are enrolled in a college or professional development course

   •  grades K-12 children who are now navigating at-home learning with less access to their teachers, and

   •  ROTC, NROTC, and DoD Service Academy Cadets who are wrapping up an academic year.

“Having this resource will hopefully minimize stress as families continue to navigate through these unusual current events,” Atkins said.

Grades K-12 children in Active Duty military families are still eligible to use as usual. Program access also continues unchanged for Coast Guard military and civilian family members, who are funded by Coast Guard Mutual Assistance.

Those who are newly eligible under the expansion should create a new account at, and those with continued eligibility should use their existing accounts. Up to date eligibility info is available on our website or by clicking on each individual branch of service.
