Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson visited Kadena Air Base Feb. 1-2 for the first time since taking the position.

She met with members across the installation, including Airmen in the 388th Fighter Wing and 419th Fighter Wing who are deployed to Japan as part of a routine theater security package, to discuss her priorities of readiness, innovation and modernization.
.
“I really enjoyed getting out to the flight line and talking to all the Airmen about what they’re doing,” Wilson said. “I got to see a lot and hear a lot from the Airmen about what they do and how they’re staying ready to fight at any time.”

After learning about ongoing missions, Wilson expressed her pleasure with how the Airmen conducted themselves.

“I just really appreciate the Airmen here at Kadena who are taking the time to become ready,” Wilson said, “Always being ready, always honing your skills, always strengthening your team and always taking care of the Airman who’s next to you.”
