The second of two F-16s, repaired for the 388th Fighter Wing by the 649th Combat Logistics Support Squadron, was formally returned to the 388th on Oct. 29. The jet was damaged in 2003 while parked on the tarmac of an air base in southwest Asia. The 649th deployed a 10-member team to disassemble and ship both aircraft to Hill AFB for repair in their maintenance facility. The 649th started work on the jet in June 2005 and finished Oct. 2, 2007, at a cost of $969,000. As part of the repair, the aircraft's front section was replaced with parts taken from a Navy F-16. (Pictured from left to right: Lt. Col. Geoffrey Bacon, 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander, Col. Michele Smith, 388th Maintenance Group commander, Brig. Gen.
