388TH MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS SQUADRON

Mission:
    The 388th Maintenance Operations Squadron's mission is the "Provide world-class maintenance, facility, training, and maintenance management support to the 388th Fighter Wing."
    The 388th MOS develops, plans, and implements programs for all wartime tasks, coordinates direct support for flightline operations and serves as the wing liaison with Air Force Material Command host on support issues. The unit directs all wing aircraft maintenance training, environment management, transportation and civil engineering programs. 

Personnel and Resources:
    The 388th MOS is a subordinate unit of the 388th Maintenance Group, 388th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The squadron has approximately 200 support personnel assigned to five flights and a vehicle maintenance element which provides support for the 388th Maintenance Group staff, Quality Assurance and Weapons Load Training.

History:
    The squadron was originally activated August 8, 1942, as the 388th Sub Depot, San Antonio Air Depot, Laredo, Texas.  It was transferred to the Army Air Force Training Command at the same location upon its inactivation on April 30, 1944.
    The 388th Logistics Support Squadron was reactivated on Dec 1, 1991, at hill Air Force Base, Utah.  The unit was assigned under the 388th logistics Group.  In August 2002, the 388th Logistics Support Squadron was renamed the 388th Maintenance Operations Squadron under the newly renamed 388th Maintenance group, previously 388th Logistics Group, as part of the 388th Fighter Wing reorganization.  in addition to the squadron's logistics responsibilities, a new Maintenance Operations Flight was assigned.
    During its assignment at Hill AFB, the 388th MOS has deployed members to various locations from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to deserts of the Middle East in support of numerous higher headquarters tasks.
    The 388th MOS was awarded the Air Force Outstanding unit Award on three occasions, from May 1, 1991, to April 30, 1993; June 1, 1994, to May 31, 1996; and June 1, 2001, to May 31, 2003.
