Former 388th FW commander earns first star

A former commander of the 388th Fighter Wing was promoted to brigadier general during a ceremony May 30 at the Hill Aerospace Museum.

Family and friends were present to witness the new rank pinned on Brig. Gen. David B. Lyons, 12th Air Force vice commander. Lt. Gen. Mark D. Kelly, 12th AF commander, officiated the ceremony.

As part of ACC, 12th AF located at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz, ensures assigned and aligned forces, which includes those at Hill's 388th FW, are properly trained and equipped.

Lyons was the commander of the 388th from June 2015 to June 2017. During his command at Hill, the wing achieved F-35A Initial Operating Capability in August 2016.
